Derby Festival

Its Derby time again. To start off derby Festival I worked Thunder over Louisville. What a great day that was. Saturday Me Linda and the kids will be volunteering at the water stop for the Mini-marathon. We always have fun doing that.
Wednesday, I will be working at the chow wagon selling beer to all the Charlie Daniels Fans. If it is good weather the water front will be packed.
Thursday I will be driving in the Parade. I will be pulling one of the floats (not sure which one) I have to be at the fairgrounds at 4:00 am to pull the float downtown. I guess they try to do it before the roads get busy. At least they give us a good breakfast. Jonathan will be riding with me down the parade route. Linda may ride along, she is still deciding if she wants to ride or take pictures. As for Jennifer, she has her own agenda for the parade. Jen will be a pooper-scooper in the parade. They like to be called Super-Scoopers. I hope she knows what she is getting into.
Happy Derby Everyone

Spring Fever

It was so nice this past week, Jonathan and Jennifer enjoyed some time on the trampoline.

I have no idea where the kids got the idea to jump off of the playhouse roof. I would never have done that when i was a kid!
This next picture is not photoshoped, She stayed in this pose in the air. I don't think she can walk on water but Jennifer can levitate very well.

Today was the day to put up the new awning.
It looks so nice. While they were putting up the awning, the tree guy came and cut all the dead and hanging limbs out of our tree.
Now that we got everything done today we will have time to do the Flea Market thing Tomorrow.

Clean Air!

We have been in this house for quite a few years. We have never had our airducts cleaned out until today( Monday). Kyle works for Stanley Steamer. He just got certified to do airduct cleaning. So we had ours done. We found things in our airducts and return air vents (besides all the dust) . . .long lost pictures. . . Toys. . . money. . . I think when we have the kids sweep they just sweep it into the return air ducts.

They cleaned all the Airducts, Return Air Vents, Blower motor, A coil on the furnace, and when they are done they vacume your whole house. Linda was so happy when Kyle told her how much less dusting she will have to do now. I'm sure we will all breathe a lot easier now.
We are taking Spring Cleaning to new heights. Now if we can just get Jonathan a job with a window cleaner!

Why the NIT is good for UK

10. We don't have to skip out on work to watch UK's games.

9. UK got to play a home game in a post-season
tournament! And on top of that, it was in Memorial
Coliseum, which was special for all involved -- players, fans,
coaches, broadcasters.

8. Our games are covered nationally on ESPN, so folks
outside of Kentucky don't have to go to a sports bar.
And it's a network which actually knows how to broadcast sports (CBS
Can't Broadcast Sports)
7. The players will get to visit a state that they would not have otherwise
(Nebraska!).

6. UK has a better chance at making ESPN's Top 10
(i.e., Perry Stevenson, no 6).

5. UK got a recruit to sign after seeing the NIT game at
Memorial Coliseum.

4. We won't lose any money on an NIT pool.

3. UK is still playing after the first weekend of March Madness.

2. UK might actually win a couple of games, helping to
stay in front of UNC and Kansas in total wins.

1. They are still my Kentucky Wildcats and I will follow
them no matter what!!!

Wow! March already

Hey everyone, Life at the Lindsey Household is getting somewhat back to normal. Since a lot of people transfered from our plant to Kentucky Truck plant it left me where I get to work every week instead of every other week. We still have a few down weeks scheduled but at least I'm not having to file unemployment so much. I just got through filing my taxes and was shocked to find out I have to pay State another $585. Needless to say they are not getting paid until mid April.

I got the awning and the railing on the back of the house all torn down and ordered a new awning. I still have to get my tree in front trimmed, it has a lot of broken limbs way up high. I think I'm past the stage of my life where I climb a tree much less with a chain saw.

Jonathan got a new game system for his birthday. He has been in the basement ever since. We will probably see him around April or if the power goes out again.

Jennifer only has one more Cheerleading competition for this year and it is next weekend here in Louisville. The other day I was looking at the Derby Festival web site at all the things you could volunteer for, when I came across Pooper Scooper for the Parade. Jennifer got so excited so her and her friend is going to SCOOP POOP in the parade.

The Travel Agency is really slow. Not to many people traveling like they used to. You know things are bad when even Disney is laying people off. When I looked into my crystal ball I seen Mickey in Washington asking,"Where the Hell is MY Bailout".

Ice Storm

Been a while since I Blogged, so I will update everyone on the "Louisville Lindsey's". We lost our power on Tuesday, and was without power until Saturday afternoon. Linda and the kids were staying with a friend of ours and I have been staying at the COLD...COLD house. I tried to get a kerosene heater to heat at least one room. Apparently everyone in the city had the same idea. Every store was out. So I started calling to see if someone that still had power had one I could borrow. Linda's dad had one in his shed. Now i had a kerosene heater, so I went looking for a kerosene jug to fill. Everyone was sold out. Not to be outsmarted, I took the 5 gallon water jug in our camper and made it a kerosene jug. Just when I think my troubles are over I go to get Kerosene. SOLD OUT.. SOLD OUT.. SOLD OUT. Every store I went to was out of kerosene. After driving around I found a Thornton's that had some. They also had a very long line. They were selling so much kerosene that they had a kerosene only line in the store. When I got my jug filled I got in my car to leave only to notice some DUMB @#$% had double parked and blocked me in. This was my breaking point, I lost my cool a little and had a heated discussion with MR. DUMB @#$%. Well at least it was heated.
Now it is Thursday afternoon, I have one room heated I hear a noise look outside just in time to watch the awning on the back of my house collapse.
Now in this second photo you will notice the downed awning as well as off to the right the $1000 damaged trampoline (You will have to refer to an earlier post for that story)
Our subdivision looks like a war zone. Downed power lines everywhere. Trees snapped like toothpicks.
Saturday morning a standing ovation for the POWER TEAM. Boy were we glad to see these guys.
In amidst all the drama the kids found time to get in a little sledding

Here is a picture of Jen and a few of here friends from school at here last game.

I know everyone has been hearing in the news about the two truck plants here in Louisville. They have gave us an opportunity to transfer to the other plant. I have 20 years in at Louisville Assembly Plant. I feel that the best decision for me is to stay put where I am. It is going to be a long 2 years. In June of next year our plant will shut down and undergo a complete retool. This could take up to 16 months. I will be laid off for that time. After that time we will be one of the most modern plants in North America. We will be able to produce 8 different vehicle types. Now if the economy collapses and they close my plant, then I made a bad decission. Of course it really don't matter what product you build, if you don't sell it then no job is safe.

Life goes on.

I didn't get to watch the basketball game Sunday. We were at a Cheerleading competition in Cincinnati. The game came on about the time we were leaving to come home. Boy was that a swerving ride home. Congrats to the Cards on their win. I would have rather seen the Cats get the win but the Cards definitely needed that one!
Tried to call my unemployment in for the last two days. I keep getting an error with the call in and the internet link is also down. When I watched the news tonight, they had a story telling how the Unemployment office is overwelmed. So tomorrow I'm gonna get a 12 pack of Beer and a pizza and keep calling till I get through. This Unemployment thing just keeps gettin' harder and harder!
